Three retail distribution challenges

From replenishment demand
to the store doorstep.

Distribution teams must coordinate orders and receiving windows across many stores without losing the transport context. Explore three decisions that connect network demand, route planning and completed deliveries.

01 / Distribution network

Store Replenishment Coordination

Bring store delivery requirements, available inventory context and distribution-center commitments into the same transportation planning process, with site priorities and receiving windows visible.

02 / Route planning

Multi-stop Route Planning

Group deliveries across a retail network while comparing capacity, distance, vehicle suitability, delivery windows and route alternatives. The operator reviews and selects trips to release.

Delivery Execution & Exceptions

Follow transport milestones, changes to arrival expectations and delivery evidence at stores, so dispatch teams can investigate exceptions against the original transport plan.

Operational requirements

A retail network runs
on delivery commitments.

Transport planning must reflect store receiving windows, distribution-center readiness, vehicle capacity and route changes. Different locations require one coordinated operational picture.

01

Store- and site-specific requirements

Combine store delivery priorities, requested quantities and receiving restrictions with information from distribution centers and ERP/WMS systems.

02

Delivery windows and route feasibility

Plan multi-stop transport against opening hours, unloading windows, stop sequence and vehicle weight or volume limits.

03

Own fleet and transport partners

Evaluate available capacity, suitable vehicles and contracted carrier options while keeping the final transport assignment with the operator.

04

Delivery progress and exceptions

Compare planned arrival with actual milestones, investigate late or incomplete deliveries, and retain POD for review.

Inventory allocation, replenishment forecasting and stock availability remain responsibilities of connected enterprise systems where applicable. This conceptual page illustrates transport coordination, not an automatic replenishment engine.

From store demand to delivery review

One distribution network.
Four operational handovers.

A practical transport lifecycle connecting store needs, resource selection, shipment updates and delivery review.

01

Collect store delivery requirements

Bring requested store deliveries, planned replenishment and location-specific receiving constraints into transport planning.

02

Compare plans and assign resources

Review multi-stop route alternatives, vehicle constraints, transport windows and available own or partner capacity.

03

Coordinate store deliveries

Keep dispatch information, trip milestones, delivery confirmation and exceptions available during execution.

04

Review fulfillment and performance

Use delivery evidence, planned-versus-actual information and reported deviations to improve transport decisions.

Questions & clarifications

Retail distribution
in operational context.

Store networks combine transport constraints, enterprise data and on-the-ground delivery requirements. Implementation details follow the customer environment.

Can iBisTMS plan multi-stop retail delivery routes?

Route planning supports transport orders, vehicle capacities and delivery time windows. Planners can compare scenarios and review proposed trips before release, subject to configured constraints.

Can store receiving windows be included in planning?

Yes, time windows and location priorities can inform routing and trip decisions when the corresponding data and rules are configured.

Does iBisTMS replace store ordering or replenishment systems?

No. Store orders, inventory availability and replenishment calculations normally originate from ERP, WMS or other enterprise applications. iBisTMS coordinates the transportation workflow around those inputs.

Can we combine company vehicles and external carriers?

The platform can coordinate both own fleet and partner resources. The operator evaluates suitability and assignment based on the available data and configured rules.

What happens if a delivery is late or incomplete?

Shipment milestones, exceptions and delivery evidence can support follow-up and operational reporting. Availability and timeliness of updates depend on how data is captured and integrated.

Are Retail-specific Customer Stories available?

No retail-specific story is published on this page. A retail reference will be listed only when one is documented and authorized.
