Customer story / Oil & Gas

Primary logistics.
Every movement in context.

Primary transport links supply locations, terminals and depots. Explore an anonymised Oil & Gas operating environment where shipment requirements, loading coordination and transport follow-up must work together across facilities.

01 / The context

Between facilities.
One coordinated movement.

The operating environment involved primary movements between supply points, terminals and depots. Each movement had to be understood in relation to the originating facility, receiving site, transport resource and expected loading or unloading activity.

Primary logistics differs from last-mile distribution: movements are often inter-facility and can be shaped by site readiness, vehicle suitability, quantity records and the timing of handovers. This study describes that coordination context without exposing the customer network.

Customer identity, location names, volumes and network size are intentionally withheld.

02 / The operational challenge

The route is only one part
of the movement.

Four operational dependencies shape transport between facilities and receiving sites.

01 / Requirements

Movement requirements

Product and quantity expectations, origin and destination details, and receiving constraints all influence how transport work is prepared.

02 / Loading

Facility readiness

Departure depends on loading availability, facility scheduling and the practical sequence of activity at the origin.

03 / Resources

Vehicle and carrier coordination

Appropriate transport capacity and resource responsibilities must be aligned with each planned movement.

04 / Handovers

Visibility across facilities

Teams need a usable record of departure, movement progress and arrival to support coordination and exception review.

03 / The implementation approach

Join site requirements
to transport execution.

The implementation context is a coordinated primary logistics flow: movement preparation, loading alignment, execution follow-up and receiving review. The exact customer-specific configuration is not disclosed.

01

Organise movement requirements

Bring the origin, destination, product, quantity and scheduling context into a common transport requirement.

02

Coordinate facility handovers

Consider loading availability and receiving conditions when preparing a feasible movement between sites.

03

Connect transport partners

Associate the planned movement with a responsible vehicle or carrier and the operational progress information available.

04

Support receiving-side review

Retain transport and receiving context so teams can examine completion status and any reported differences.

04 / Explore the workflow

From movement request
to receiving confirmation.

Choose a stage to explore an illustrative primary transport workflow. This is not a reproduction of a customer system or a claim of the exact deployed sequence.

Clarify the movement requirement.

The coordination starts with the product movement, origin and receiving requirements rather than a route considered in isolation.

05 / Operational value

A clearer view of
primary transport work.

The following describes operational value of the coordination approach, without claiming measured improvements.

01

Aligned movement context

Origin and destination requirements can be considered alongside transport resources and site activity, instead of as isolated tasks.

02

Better handover visibility

Loading, departure and receiving information provide a clearer basis for operational coordination and follow-up.

03

Traceable transport review

Available movement and receiving records support investigation of delays, differences or unresolved operational questions.

About the evidence
